Na-koso Checkpoint


*Na-koso Checkpoint was one of three border checkpoints in northern Japan in ancient times . It is said to have been located in Iwaki, Fukushima Prefecture.

General Minamoto no Yoshiie (1039-1106) (also called Hachiman Tarô) receives an imperial order to subdue Abe Sadatô(1019-1062) and his younger brother, Munetô, who have power over the Okushû region (Fukushima, Miyagi, Iwate, and Aomori Prefectures) and are accused of disobeying imperial orders. Yoshiie earns the support of the Kiyohara family of Dewa (Yamagata and Akita Prefectures) and over the course of nine years succeeds in subjugating the Abe family.
