[Section I: Iwami Kagura] Nô Dances
Mt. Amanokagu


This is a story about the High Plain of Heaven. When Amaterasu-ômikami shuts herself into the Heavenly Rock-cave and throws the Land of the Central Reed Plains into darkness, the Eight-hundred Myriad Gods decide to hold a festival just outside the door to the cave. Takagi-no-kami and Yayoi-hime go to Mt. Amanokagu to look for a sasaki branch for the festival are about to take one without asking permission from Mt. Amanokagu's guardian deity,Ôyamatsumi-no-kami, when his daughter, Adatsu-hime, stops them. But when Ôyamatsumi-no-kami hears their reason for taking the sasaki, he gladly hands it over. Yayoi-hime brings the sasaki branch to the bed of the Yasu River as Takagi-no-kami had ordered, but is attacked by an evil deity. Takagi-no-kami,Ôyamatsumi-no-kami, and Adatsu-hime all fight off the evil deity.
