The sun and the moon descend from the heavens,
bathing the Central Land of the Reed Plains in light.

Amaterasu-ômikami becomes angry at Susanowo-no-mikoto and shuts herself into the Heavenly Rock-cave, throwing the Central Land of the Reed Plains into utter darkness. The evil gods seize power, bringing chaos to the land. The Eight Hundred Myriad gods confer, finally deciding to perform a dance before the door to the cave. When Amaterasu-ômikami wonders what is happening and peeks out from behind the door, Tachikarowo-no-mikoto flings the door open and invites Amaterasu-ômikami out. The world is once again filled with light and peace.

When Amaterasu-ômikami peeks out from behind the stone door of her cave, Tachikarowo-no-mikoto forces the door open.

Tachikarowo-no-mikoto, Amenouzume-no-mikoto, and other gods dance in front of the stone cave.
